Email domain checker

Paste an email address or a domain. The report tells you what kind of mail it runs (throwaway, free, alias or company) and whether its DNS stops someone sending mail in its name.

How we rate a domain

Every domain gets a type first. We read its MX records to see where mail goes, then compare the domain with public lists of throwaway and free mail services, and with the mail servers those services run.

Then a trust score from 0 to 100. It adds up what the DNS shows: whether SPF and DMARC stop forged mail, whether MTA-STS and DNSSEC are set up, how old the domain is, and whether it appears on reputation lists. A throwaway domain is capped at 0, because an address there leads back to nobody, however good its records look.

We recheck domains on a schedule. Every report shows when we last looked, and its date only moves when something on it changed.

Questions

How do I check if an email address is disposable?

Paste the address, or only the part after the @, into the box at the top of this page. If we hold a report for that domain, you land on it, and the first line says whether it is disposable. The lists by type show every disposable, free and alias domain we track.

What is a disposable email domain?

A domain that gives out inboxes to anyone, with no account and no password. People use them to get past a signup form without giving a real address. Many of these services delete the mail after a few hours.

Is a free email address the same as a disposable one?

No. A Gmail or Outlook address is a real, lasting inbox that belongs to one person. It just does not tell you who they work for. A disposable inbox is made to be thrown away.

What does the trust score measure?

How far you can trust that mail from the domain really came from it, and that an address on it leads to a real person you can reach. It is a reading of the domain's records, not a verdict on any one sender.
