Disposable email domains

These domains hand out inboxes to anyone, no account needed. An address on one of them tells you nothing about who signed up, and the inbox may be gone before your second email arrives.

How a domain ends up on this list

We start from public lists of throwaway mail services and group their domains by the mail servers behind them. The services keep registering new domains, so a list on its own always falls behind.

That is why we also read MX records. When a new domain hands its mail to a server that a known throwaway service runs, it lands here too, even before any list has it. Shared platforms such as Cloudflare Email Routing are the exception: thousands of real companies use them as well, so they never mark a domain as disposable by themselves.

What to do with these addresses

Ask for a different address before you create the account. Blocking them outright is fine for most products. Free trials see them most, because a new inbox means a new trial.

Questions

Is it safe to block disposable email domains?

For most signups, yes. Nobody needs a throwaway inbox to use a real account, and someone who plans to stay will give you a lasting address when asked. Show a clear message, such as "Please use a permanent email address", rather than a generic error, so the rare person caught by mistake knows what to do.

Why is the trust score 0 for every domain here?

The score answers how far you can trust an identity at that domain. On a throwaway inbox the answer is not at all, whatever its SPF or DMARC records say, so every disposable domain is capped at 0.

A domain on this list is not disposable. How do I get it removed?

Write to [email protected] with the domain. We recheck it, and if the evidence does not hold up, it comes off the list.
